Good morning.

Another wild week with Anthropic, creators of the increasingly popular ChatGPT rival Claude, raising $100M in strategic capital from Korean tech giant SK Telecom.

We’re also starting to hear more rumors about GPT-5, with some saying it’s going to be coming out early next year with voice. It feels like, despite a slight lull in AI news, big things are on the way.

Updates to Google’s AI Search, Google Photos

Google is adding Generative AI-powered article summaries, definitions and coding improvements to its Search Generative Experience (SGE) in an effort to help users better learn from the information they find online.

Across certain subjects like STEM, economics and history, it will be possible to hover over certain words to preview their definitions and see related images or diagrams as part of Google’s AI-generated responses to questions.

Google also added Generative AI capabilities to Google Photos, making it easier to name photo collections with suggested titles.

Amazon works on AI chips, adds AI to product reviews

Amazon is racing to catch up with Nvidia, Microsoft and Google for marketshare in the generative AI industry.

The company is prioritizing AI features in its AWS product suite and two AI chips called Inferentia and Trainium for training large language models.

In another part of its business, Amazon is now using generative AI to summarize product reviews, highlighting the features and customer sentiment most commonly mentioned. 

US Department of Defense establishes generative AI task force

The US DOD has created Task Force Lima, an initiative to harness the power of artificial intelligence in a responsible and strategic way.

The task force is specifically focusing on operations related to warfighting, business affairs, health, policy and readiness.
